2nd look at the worst chainsaw ever, Stihl MS162 | Robot Maniak

2nd look at the worst chainsaw ever, Stihl MS162

It isn’t that the MS162 is a bad saw. It does its intended job perfectly. It is just simply about 250% more money than it should be.

  1. you dont get it. every stihl chain saw is way over priced. there is no diffrents paying 219 for that and paying 1500 for some of those other stihls. i have no issue with the quality of stihl. its always the price. thats why i have worked as a logger for 40 years and never owned a stihl

  2. I honestly think if your in a battery platform like Milwaukee or dewalt, a battery powered limb saw is just better. Most people that have this saw are only going to run a tank through once a year then need a carb rebuild.

  3. If Stihl wants to further improve their profits, they should sell Stihl stickers you can put on your favorite Chinese chainsaw for $100 each, that way you can look like you are a member of the club.

  4. Oh, but Bodie, I just got a new tank vent, fuel line, and filter for my 025 from the dealer for more than $50. Isn't that special!!! Almost took up less space in my pocket than the cash did.

  5. Anyone wanting to buy a 162-182 should just pony up for an echo . 4920/4910 or jump up to a 590 for $250 -350 you can not come close . The way you are comparing to Chinese saws is not a good comparison though the sthil made parts are light years better quality .

  6. The average homeowner would be better served by a battery powered saw for just trimming trees and small scrub brush around the yard. No mix fuel to worry about or long term saw storage. Hell if you are already married to a battery platform its a no brainer. As far as a gas saw 50cc is as small as I personally will go unless you need a top handle for a specific job. On another note the opening to this vid had me snorting coffee through my nose I was laughing so hard. Humor warning next time. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

  7. Greetings from Hungary! 🤝 Good video, and your attitude towards the matter is completely palpable! A truly quality product, but the factory's attitude towards obsolescence is blood-curdling! Its air filtration is beyond criticism and clearly leads to premature wear of the machine! This category is popular with us, a small, light saw, for caring for fruit trees, for smaller carpentry jobs! I have one too, but I'm a little disappointed, mostly the lack of torque which makes it less lovable, especially since, for example, its bigger brother, the MS 212, is a much more usable and powerful saw in the same weight and size category! At a ridiculously higher price!!!

  8. Though I have no experience with the 162, it seems like a downgrade from the 170. Love the video and completely agree with you👍🏻 except I feel like in today's economy, I'd go as far as saying it's a good deal at $89-$99. No go above $119. 219 is ludicrous!

  9. What u done in the beginning of this video a rich guy could have done with a pair of garden loopers befor the other rich guys found his gas n oil for the rich guy chainsaw lol

  10. 😂😂😂 yall crack me up!!! Best saw since the 372 was built!! 😂😂😂. But honestly a great video and fun at that. Shows what it is and that its capable of…..very little… $219.99 WTF.

  11. I got a stilh 170 doing a tree job for an old guy 10-12 years ago. It was a brand new saw in a case and he gave it to me as partial payment. I had no idea what it was worth when I got it or much about it. But I used to some over the year. Used it for cutting 4×6 & 6×6 building retaining walls. It was a decent saw for odd jobs for sure. Always started. Only thing I had the do was clean the spark screen after using someone else’s fuel on a job. I own a 500i also. Got a good deal on mine new but they are overpriced also. Even though it’s my favourite saw and I got a ton of saws.

  12. I’m a huge fan of the echo cs310. It’s light and perfect for brushing, where you don’t want a heavy saw. After a muffler mod and tune, I can bury the bar and it does just fine for what it is. For being a clamshell saw, it’s not bad. And you can find used ones for under $100 all day.

  13. You are right about the ms162 too expensive for what it is. Because if someone buys that saw because of the name Stihl and they don't know too much about chainsaws and they try to cut firewood for there home and cut bigger logs. They are going to be disappointed and maybe say Stihl is not good anymore. But for the people that know about saws you have to step up to the pro grade saws to get a good saw from Stihl.

  14. Ran my dads 038 magnum for years. In the last few years ive switched to all husky. In the last few years more and more people are calling stihl steel. Local dealers closest to me still say stihl correct. Its annoying. You're a great source of information otherwise. Ive learned a few things from you.

  15. I have a ms362c and a 500i for the big saw stuff and I am already bought into the milwaukee battery eco system so I have a single battery m18 chainsaw with a 16 inch bar and its perfect for the small projects that I don't need a big saw for and I don't have to worry about the maintenance at all and its works every time. I understand that there is a market for home owner gas saws but if you're going to use it once a year what is the point of a gas saw with all of the other factors like fuel going bad and whatnot when you can get a electric saw, yes theyre a little bit more expensive upfront but its alot less headache when you need it to cut a tiny branch.

  16. the value compared to other saws in its price range is definitely trash. I assume its targeted towards people who either only know stihl, or want a brand name saw, at the cheapest pricepoint. Either this is the cheapest saw stihl could produce while still putting in the effort to engineer a long lasting, reliable saw. Or maybe its priced just to retain the value of the brandname. Or a mix of both. They are probably better off making a a overpriced problem free saw, rather than the actual cheapest product that they could come up with, risking their reputatoin and brand name value.
