Husqvarna Automower 435X AWD Performance
All robotic lawnmowers look fantastic on paper ... however, their appearance on paper and their real-world performance are often completely different.
So the big question for the Automower 435X is how well it works in the real world. Let's break it down for you...
Edge Mowing
We have to first mention that no robotic lawnmower on the market today has its edges perfectly trimmed. They all lose a thin strip on some of the edges. The 435X is no different. It leaves a small uncut streak along the edges, especially if the edge is against a wall or other obstacle.
Slope Navigation
The Husqvarna 435x's innovative pivoting body, and AWD allows it to tackle hills and slopes of up to an incredible 35°! This is by far the best robotic lawn mower for steep slopes.
Mow-to-charge Ratio
We were very impressed with the mow-to-charge ratio of the 435x. When it comes to robotic lawnmowers, a load ratio greater than 1:1 is considered pretty good. For every 100 minutes of mowing time, the Automower 435x will only need 30 minutes to fully recharge!
The Automower 435x is an incredibly efficient robot mower.
GPS-Assisted Navigation
The Automower has a built-in GPS that creates a map of your lawn. The Husqvarna Automower 435X tracks which parts of the yard it has already covered and adjusts its mowing pattern to improve your mowing performance and efficiency.
The GPS can also be used as a great anti-theft device as you can easily track the location of your Automower using your mobile app.
LED Headlights
The Husqvarna team went out of their way to ensure that this model can actually work effectively around the clock. Energy-efficient LED headlights improve the sensor function at night.
These lights make it easier to identify the mower in the dark and start flashing to indicate a malfunction.
Weather-proof Design
With its weather-proof design, the Automower 435x can be operated in any weather conditions. This also makes cleaning your lawnmower ten times easier as you can use a hose to remove all of the grass debris.

Husqvarna Automower 435X vs Husqvarna Automower 535X
Today we are going to compare the Husqvarna Automower 435x against the Automower 535X. These two models look very similar but they differ in a few different ways.
To simplify the answer for you, the 435X is designed for personal use while the 535X is designed for commercial use.
The Automower 535X is mechanically identical to the 435X, the only difference is a few design tweaks and remote fleet control on the 535X.
Let's take a closer look...
What's the Difference Between the Automower 435X and 535X?
These models are almost identical in design, however, the 535X is tweaked for public use. Here are the main differences:
•Colour
While the 435X comes in a nice dark grey tint, the 535X sports the traditional Husqvarna bright orange colours.
•LED Lights
The 535X does not come with LED headlights like the 435X.
•Onboard Control Panel
While the 435x comes with a 2.8" LED control panel, Husqvarna has swapped the LED screen for a simpler push-button control system. This is partially to make it easier for inexperienced users to operate the mower, and also to prevent vandalism to the mower.
•Guide-wire
The Automower 435x uses the traditional 2 guide wire system to help it navigate its mowing area while the Automower 535x uses 3 guide wires to help it navigate more effectively and give the user more control within a commercial envirionment.
•Husqvarna Fleet Services
The main difference between the Automower 535x and 435x is that the 535x is designed to be a commercially used mower.
Husqvarnas Fleet services software allows you to monitor and control a whole fleet of commercial robot mowers remotely. Imagine being able to mow 20 soccer fields at once while in the warmth and comfort of your office...
•Pricing
While you can get the privately used Automower 435x for $5999, its commercial brother is going to set you back $6299.

How to Install the Husqvarna Automower 435X
Not sure how to set your Automower up? We've all been there. Setting up your first robotic mower can be a tricky business...
Fortunately for you, we've spent hundreds of hours setting up and installing robotic lawnmowers. We are here to guide you step by step through the perfect installation of your Automower. It is best to allow at least 6 hours to install your robotic lawnmower.
It's much better to take your time and get everything right the first time than going back and fixing things later.
Relax and take the time to read these steps. The better you install it, the better your mower will work...
Step-by-step guide on how to install the Automower 435x:
Step 1: Gather installation tools
Before you begin the installation, you need to gather all the correct tools.
Here's what you're going to need:
-Roll of guidewire
-Guidewire pegs
-Guidewire connectors
-Charging base
-Charging base power supply unit
-Charging base pegs
-Automower ruler
-A mallet/hammer
-A set of pliers
After gathering all your equipment, it's time to start step 2
Step 2: Planning
It is important to have a clearly drawn plan before you start hammering away at your guidewire pegs. Here's how to plan your Automower installation:
-Draw an overview of your property and decide the areas where you want your Automower 435x to mow.
-Choose a location for your charging station (keep this in mind). It should be within 5 m of a power source and on a level surface, preferably in the shade.
-Now, start to plan your guidewire by drawing from one side of your charging station and continue around the areas you want to be mowed.
-To isolate garden beds or furniture, draw a line directly from the boundary to the isolation area. Continue around the isolation area completely and return the way you came on the same line as shown below.
Step 3: Installing charging station
-Find a flat surface, less than 5m from a power source, and preferably in the shade.
- Leave about 0.5m free on either side and 3m directly ahead of your charging station to allow the 435x to dock without hassle
- Position the base of the charging station in the location you have chosen.
- Fasten your base by screwing the supplied screws into the ground with your allen key.
-Connect your charging base to power and turn it on
-Plug your Automower into the base charging station and allow it to charge while you lay the perimeter wire.
Step 4: Laying perimeter wire
-Start at your charging station, leaving approximately 30cm free at the end of your guidewire (you'll need this to connect to the charging station later), then continue around the boundary line of your lawn.
-Have the Automower ruler on hand to measure the distance between certain objects.
-Keep laying the guidewire around the border according to your drawn plan, inserting a guidewire peg approximately every 1 meter.
- In the corners, instead of laying the wire at a sharp 90 ° angle, round to a more even angle of 45 °. This helps your Automower navigate corners more efficiently.
- To isolate an object, run the cable 90° from the boundary to the desired isolation zone. Go clockwise around the isolation zone and follow the wire in the same way to the boundary it came from by pinning both guidewires together using a single peg.
-When you return to the charging station, run the guidewire to the back of the charging station, leaving 30cm free.
-Cut off the excess perimeter wire.
-Clamp the supplied Husqvarna guidewire connectors to each end of the guidewire
-Route the cable from the left side to the left of the charging station from the right side to the right of the charging station.
-If done correctly, your charging station will display a constant green light (see below). Installation completed! Now you can start. Set up your Automower and start the setup.
Congratulations on successfully installing your Automower 435x AWD!

Husqvarna Automower 435x Maintenance
Although robotic mowers work autonomously, they still require regular cleaning and maintenance, just like any other tool in your shed. Giving your 435x a good clean and service from time to time will greatly improve its overall performance and efficiency.
*Remember, ALWAYS turn your robot mower off and remove the battery before conducting any cleaning and maintenance*
How to Clean Your Husqvarna Automower
This is the easiest way to extend the life of your lawnmower and improve its overall performance. When cleaning your robotic lawnmower, do the following:
-Use a damp cloth to remove and clean any grass clippings around the control panel controls.
-Make sure that the emergency stop switch works freely and is free of dirt/debris.
-Use a screwdriver to remove dirt and grass deposits from the wheel grooves of your Automower.
-Carefully wipe the wheels with a damp cloth and remove accumulated dirt
-Continue wiping the wheels with a soft wire brush.
-Check to see that all wheels are spinning freely without any obstruction.
-Give your 435x a final wipe over with a damp cloth
-Done!
How to Change the Blades on the Husqvarna Automower
Most manufacturers recommend changing the blades every 6 to 8 weeks. However, this is a general recommendation and some areas will need to be replaced more or less frequently than others.
Visually inspect your blades every few weeks to decide whether or not they need replacing. If they're rusty or bent, you know it's time to replace them.
Another tell-tale sign that your leaves need replacing is that the quality of your cut grass is gradually deteriorating.
Replacing Automower Cutting Blades: Step by Step
-It's best to wear cut-proof gloves as the mowers blades are extremely sharp.
-Switch off your Automower by turning the power switch underneath.
-Turn the mower on a level / smooth surface to expose the underside of your mower.
-Use a Phillips head screwdriver to carefully undo the 3 screws that hold the blades in place.
-Remove old blades and screws.
-After removing the blades, scrub the blade disc with a brush to remove any debris or build up.
-Use your screwdriver to screw new blades with new screws through the 3 holes in the cutting disc
-Check that the blade screws are tight and are spinning freely
-Done!
Our Thoughts on the 435x
The Husqvarna Automower really is a pioneer among robotic lawnmowers. With it's unique design features, it has proven to be the best robot mower when it comes to handling steep slopes and rough terrain.
The 435x is also extremely efficient, with a huge mowing time of 100 minutes, it will only require 30 minutes to reach full charge and get back to work! This allows maximum mowing time per day.
However, of course, if you want this amazing tool with these incredible features, you're going to need deep pockets, VERY deep.
Happy mowing!
