Husqvarna Automower 315X Performance
All robotic mowers look amazing on paper... However, what they look like on paper and how they perform in the real world are often completely different. So the big question for the Automower 315X is how well does it perform in the real world. Let us break it down for you...
Cutting to Edge
We should start by mentioning that no robotic lawnmower on the current market will leave your edges perfectly trimmed. They will all miss a thin strip on some of your edges.
The Automower 315X is no different. It's going to leave a slight unmowed strip along the edges, especially if the edge is against a wall or other obstacle.
Mow-To-Charge Ratio
We were quite impressed with the Husqvarna 315X's mow-to-charge ratio. When dealing with robotic lawnmowers, a charge ratio above 1:1 is considered quite good. For every 70 minutes of mowing time, the Automower 315X will need around 60 minutes of charging, making this quite an efficient model.
GPS Assisted Navigation
The 315X has an onboard GPS that creates a map of your lawn. The Husqvarna Automower 315X will then register which parts of the garden it has covered and adjust its mowing pattern to improve its mowing performance and efficiency.
The GPS can also be used as a great anti-theft device as you will be able to track down your Automowers location easily by using your mobile app.
LED Headlights
The team at Husqvarna have gone above and beyond to ensure that the 315X really can operate effectively 24/7. The energy-efficient LED headlights are used to improve sensor function during the night. These lights will make it easy to spot your mower in the dark and will also start flashing to signal a malfunction.
Weather Proof
One of our favourite things about the Husqvarna Automowers is their waterproof designs. This will allow your mower to operate in any weather. It will also make cleaning your mower 10x easier as you can use a hose to wash off any grass residue.

Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500
Today we'll be using the Worx Landroid L1500 to compare to the Automower 315X. While both of these robotic mowers are arguably the best in the market, they differ in many ways. Let's take a look...
Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500: Features
When it comes to features, these two models are almost identical. Both the Automower 315X and the Landroid L1500 come with a well-developed mobile app, auto-scheduling, smart navigation systems and durable designs.
Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500: Battery Capacity
The Landroid L1500 has a longer battery life of around 90 minutes mowing time, while it's also going to need a longer charging time of 70 minutes. The Automower 315X will mow for 70 minutes and need 60 minutes to recharge.
The Landroids battery is slightly more efficient.
Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500: Safety
When it comes to safety, all robotic mower manufacturers take things very seriously, and these two models are no different. Both robotic mowers are equipped with numerous safety functions, including emergency stop buttons, tilt sensors, shock sensors, and stroke sensors. An instant stop cutting blade is activated as soon as one of these sensors is activated.
Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500: Noise
Both models will have a noise output of around 60-63db, and you wouldn't noticeably tell the difference between the two.
Husqvarna Automower 315X Vs Worx Landroid L1500: Overall
Overall, these mowers are quite similar. Both will mow around 1500-1600m². They are also equipped with the latest features like auto-scheduling, weather predictions, mobile app monitoring and voice control.
The main difference between the two is the price tag. You can get the Husqvarna Automower 315X for $3299, while the Landroid L1500 is considerably cheaper for $2199.
However, Husqvarna offers professional installation on all Automower models as long as you have a deal within your region.
Should You Buy the 315X?
If you are looking to enter the robotic lawnmower market but are unsure which model is right for you, you are not alone. Choosing the right robotic lawnmower can be extremely difficult, especially when they all have vastly different specifications and functions. Price tags. But don't worry, we're here to help!
Buy It If...
You have a medium-large lawn
The Husqvarna Automower 315X was designed to work best on medium-larger sized lawns.
You want a known and trusted brand
Husqvarna has been in business making tools and equipment since 1689. It's safe to say that they know a thing or two about creating quality products.
Your region gets a lot of rain
The Automower 315X is weatherproof, enabling it to work in the rain. Many robotic mowers on the market are not weatherproof and would need to return to base at the first sign on rain.
Don't Buy If...
You've got a small lawn
Placing this mower in a small lawn/area is just overkill. There are plenty of other robot lawnmowers designed specifically for smaller areas and are price accordingly.
You're on a budget
The Automower 315X is definitely one of the more pricey robotic mowers on the market. If you're on a budget, you should consider a cheaper option as your first robotic mower.
How to Install the Husqvarna Automower 315X
So you went out and bought the Husqvarna Automower. You're over the moon and can't wait to see it in action. There is one small problem, however. Not exactly sure how to set everything up ... Fortunately, we spent hundreds of hours setting up and installing robotic mowers. We were here to guide you step by step in the perfect installation of your Automower. It would be best if you allowed at least 6 hours to install your robotic lawnmower. It's much better to take your time and get everything right the first time than having to go back and fix things later. So relax and take the time to read these steps. The better you install it, the better the mower will work.
Step-by-step installation guide for Husqvarna Automower
Step 1: Gather all installation tools
Before beginning installation, you need to gather all the correct tools. Here's what you're going to need:
-Perimeter wire
-Wire pegs
-Wire connectors
-Charging-base
-Charging-base power supply
-Charging-base screws
-Supplied Automower ruler
-A hammer
-Pliers
After you have everything, it's time to start step 2.
Step 2: Planning
It is important to have a clearly drawn plan before you begin hammering the cable pins.
-Draw an outline of your property and decide where you want your Automower 315x to operate.
-Choose a location for your charging station (keep this in mind). It must be within 5m of a power source and on a flat surface.)
-First, draw a line from your charging station around your boundary.
-To isolate garden beds or furniture, draw a line directly from your boundary directly to the isolation area, continue around the isolation area fully and return the way you came on the same line.
Step 3: Install the Base Station
-Find a flat surface within 5m of a power source, and preferably in the shade. Leave about 0.5m on each side of the charging station and 3m in front to allow the 315x to access the charging base freely.
-Place your charging station base in its chosen location
-Secure the base station into place by screwing the 5 provided screws into the ground with the provided allen key
-Plug your charging station into the nearest power point and switch it on.
-Once successfully connected to power, get your Automower 315X, turn it on and place it on charge
-Allow your Automower to charge while you complete the rest of the installation process
Step 4: Laying perimeter wire
-Start at your charging station, leaving 30cm free at the end of your wire (we'll need this to connect to the charging base later), then continue around the boundary line of your lawn.
-Continue placing your wire around the boundary according to your plan. Place a wire peg every 1 meter or so. Keep your supplied Automower ruler handy to help gauge the distance between certain objects.
*TIP* (Every couple meters, leave a loop of boundary wire of around 15cm. By doing this, you can save yourself a lot of time if you ever need to make repairs to the wire in the future)
-In corners, as opposed to putting your cord at a 90° angle, round it off with a smoother 45° angle. This enables the Automower to better navigate the corners.
-To isolate an object, run your cord at 90º out of your boundary to the desired isolation zone. Go around the isolation zone in a clockwise direction, then follow the wire back to the boundary the same way you came.
-Once returned to the charging station, run your guidewire to the back of the charging station, leaving 30cm free.
-Cut off excess boundary wire
-Get both ends of the boundary wire and clamp the supplied wire connectors to the ends
-Place the wire coming from the left side to the left of the charging station, place the wire from the right side to the right of the charging station
-If done correctly, your docking station will display a constant green light shown below
-Installation complete! You can now start up your Automower and begin configuration
Congratulations on successfully installing your Husqvarna Automower 315X!

Husqvarna Automower 315X Maintenance
You'd be surprised by how much spending 5-10 minutes every week or two to clean and maintain your robot lawnmower will improve the longevity and overall performance of your automatic mower.
*Remember, ALWAYS turn your robot mower off/ remove the battery if possible before conducting any cleaning and maintenance and wear protective gloves to prevent any injury*
How to Clean the Automower 315X
This is the easiest way to extend the life of your lawnmower and improve its overall performance. Some things to do while cleaning your robotic lawnmower are:
- Use a damp close to remove and clean any grass debris around the control panel controls
- Make sure the emergency stop button works freely and is clear of any dirt/residue
- Use a screwdriver to remove dirt and grass deposits from the wheel grooves of your Automower
- Use a soft wire brush to further clean any wheel debris
- Using a damp cloth, carefully scrub below deck to clear away any built-up debris
How to Change Automower 315x Blades
Most manufacturers will recommend replacing your blades every 6-8 weeks. However, this is a blanket recommendation, and some areas will need replacing more often or less often than others. You can check to see if your robot mower blades need replacing by visually inspecting them every few weeks. If they are rusted or bent, you know it's time for replacing.
Another telltale sign that your blades need replacing is that the quality of your mowed lawn begins to drop.
Replace Automowers cutting blades: Step-by-step
- Turn your Automower off by flipping the power switch underneath
- Flip the mower over onto a flat/soft surface to expose the underneath of your mower
- Use a phillips head screwdriver to carefully remove the 3 screws holding the blades in place
- Remove old blades and screws
- While the blades are removed, scrub around the cutting disk plate with a brush to remove any build-up.
- Screw the new cutting blades with new screws into place firmly
- Check to make sure that the blades are rotating freely
Here's a great video by Richard from Hayes Machinery to help guide you through the process!
Done, nice work!
The Automower 315X in a Nutshell
It's no question that this model is one of the best robot mowers on the market. It performs in all categories, from mowing performance to user experience. It's a great product, and you'll be paying for it, priced at around $1000 above the markets average for medium-large sized robot mowers. If you can justify paying extra for a high-quality product or are a die-hard Husqvarna enthusiast, you will not be disappointed with your purchase. However, if you're on a budget, you might want to look for slightly cheaper options like the MoeBot S or the Gardena Sileno Life series.

Happy mowing!
