If your lawn mower is spitting out smoke it means oil got spilled all over the engine inside the mower let the mower run for bout possibly until the mower clears out all the smoke and make sure to wear a N-95 Dust Mask While Operating The Machine

Pour some seafoam and Lucus oil in there and it basically rebuilds the whole engine

I've got one with that problem. Culprit: shot o-ring in the plastic bowl hanger/ needle aperature inside the carb. It's a delicate bit of work to get that piece out without breaking it.
But it could also be the float needle stuck open.

Bad rings, they use cheap material, this always happens, I have two like this, Briggs and Stratton are better.

At least it still runs though. But that smoke though, I would be concerned.

HR214’s are the best rotary mowers ever and can last almost indefinitely with care. Mine doesn’t smoke , starts easy and everything works. Unlike new models, these were made to last and be repairable.
New gaskets would be nice lol

It has too much oil in it and you have the blade set super-low and hasn't been sharpened in years😮😮😮
