This Honda powered mower has a big problem and it seems to be very common too.

Tim tebow, likes to play skeebow
I've got one of these, 28 years old and still going
I see😢
It took 17 year's years for mine to break .. what a reliable engine it is .
Yeah one time spring unwindin on me it was pretty hard to put it back😂😂
Leave the cap on pour some gas on the cap pull the string a couple times and I will work brand new as well.
Just wrap the rope one more turn around the inside winding area to add more tension to the spring. That’s an easy fix. The problem isn’t that it needs cleaned, but that the spring loses a little tension over the years.
Easy fix
Not good
Look at machine paint fade. Put inside. Rain dose not help it
Never use oil base lubricant! You need to use graphite! Graphite lubricant is designed for this and many other applications that oil lubricant is bad for.
I bought a 5 pack if recoil springs. Sometimes the spring is done. But its 30 minutes of work…
Ratchet adapter and drill
Electric start mod
Lol. I just replaced a recoil on a GCV160 this morning. It was aftermarket, so of course I had to drill the holes out larger to make it fit properly. Anytime you acquire anything with a Honda engine, you might as well immediately order the recoil, since you will more than likely end up replacing it.
I’ve done those before! They’re not horrible. I can totally manage. Maybe I’m more patient than others lol
I once encountered valve clearance needing adjustment due to it spitting the carburetor air cleaner cover off when trying to run it.
Just replace the damn thing
That’s not a easy start it’s a hard start
Polish carburetor
Yeah, I agree with not taking them part. They're like opening a box of hornets
They're so cheap I just buy new ones unless I have a spare.. I love your video
Both of my Hondas needed new recoils
I hate this I'm working on one right now. Half the stud is stuck on the motor and the other half on the rewind assembly and it's missing the self-propelled control assembly $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 😅
Not a real Honda…chinese junk under licence…Real Hondas dont have this problem !!!
I do it all the time because the spring gets rusty after I hose off the mower after use !
Easy fix pull the rope all the way out then use welder clamp to hold the recoil, then cut the rope then hold recoil then turn a couple of turns to tighten the spring, add clamp feed rope through add knot , release clamp and slowly let it wind up and your good to go 😉
Hey bro what's up? Have you tried the tap method?😂😂
The spring will sproing
I just keep 4 in stock 😢
im replacing it for a metal recoil housing
Why’s it got a husqvarna logo on it
I recently had to service the recoil for a $20 Honda find. The spring was so gummed up with a mix of dirt, (ill-advised) oil, and corrosion that I had to clean it with a degreaser and a scotchbrite pad, then hit it with some sandpaper before reinstalling it and replacing the rope…works great now and didnt cost a dime. BTW, the problem I thought you were going to mention is the easy-to-bumble gasket order…my mower's previous owner totally screwed that up before walking away from the fix and listing it for sale.
That's happened to mine twice now
I just had to do that to mine yesterday
Those are easy to take apart and clean . I would say the idle jet plugging and making them surge is the biggest problem and the second is when the home owner tries to fix it by monkeying around with the governor linkage and gets all of the carb gaskets wrong trying to fix it!
BIOIIING
Well they figure it's a Honda so they don't need to make it very good on the pull rope because it starts first pull
I liked the old Briggs that you wound the spring in the housing with a piece of wood and a Crescent wrench.
Dont use brake cleaner. Its eats the plastic and the rope. Use a silicone based lubricant. You can pick up a can at dollar general for a couple bucks, or hit up Tractor Supply for some better stuff.
