Hey
You haven't seen the issues with the other robot mower companies. I basically went through all of them and I can say that, Husqvarna is the only robot that you can set it and forget it kind of machine.
All the other brands it's always something, like getting stuck, bad position, damaging turf with the tank turns etc.
Husqvarna has some issues too but not as many as others ( especially the new companys)
My unit is the 315 mk2 this is my second season with it the only issue i had after winter storage was sometimes it stopps just short of the charging station after restarting and closing the flap it does the return sequence and then successfully docks
Thus is only intermittent but can be annoying
There is way how to find out where the boundary wire broke. You take old AM frequency radio and go along the boundary wire. Once the sound changes in radio, you found the bad part in wire.
Since it still works, how about instead of replacing it buy one in addition to it. One can work on the front yard while the other does the back.
Hi, can you tell me the name of the Husqvarna electronic robot door? Or Colomba? Can I buy it?
Great updated review! I had a Automower 305 for about 4 years but I had the same (small) issues you mentioned. I upgraded to the 410XE NERA which solved almost all the problems. It has no buried wire that can break, cuts close to the edge and uses a smarter mowing pattern. Maybe it’s worth checking it out! Husqvarna stays king in service and repairability over the years (at least here in The Netherlands)!!
Wow, that mower is a bummer.
The boundary wire is definitely a pain. I bought a 450x when it was introduced. Used it for 3.5 seasons. The cable company and another company cut the wires in multiple locations during different seasons. The last time I had a loop error I switched to a yard service for a few years until this spring. I got a 440iQ and set it up solely with EPOS.
I went out one evening with the intent on looking for a RTK antenna location but had the antenna up in 20 minutes. Because the power to the charging station used the same cable I was able to set the charger in the same location I previously had the 450x charger. In 40 minutes I was beginning the mapping process. It took about 30 minutes for me to completely map 0.38 of an acre in my backyard including several no go areas. For comparison it took me 8 hours to lay the boundary wires for my 450x.
I occasionally had issues with the 450x finding the charger but initially the 440iQ found it with no issues at all. I’m currently having intermittent issues with it finding the charger but I think it has to do with a new house I setup for it and the guidelines that I mapped stopping too close to the charger.
The 440iQ does a really good job in the 3 zones I have though it doesn’t like to get close the the front edge of my yard and the edges of 3 of the larger no go areas in the back. I take care of these areas with a string trimmer and electric mower.
The 440iQ also does patterns well. The parallel pattern cuts down cutting time noticeably compared to the random pattern.
If it becomes possible for two mowers to share the same RTK transmitter and coordinate mowing I would definitely get another EPOS based mower. The principle reason being that it shortens the cutting time down.
Regarding the battery life, the dealer that helped me with rewiring the 450x after the line cuts sent me a replacement battery. I can’t recall if I paid for it or if it was under warranty but considering how often the mower used the charger and cycled the battery I would imagine 3-4 years to be the max lifespan.
There are some interesting mowers from other manufacturers but I prefer to stay away from the ones made in China. I’ve heard stories about poor customer service.
Excellent review. I had my eyes opened on Husqvarna for sure! Having said that, I can't believe they won't be knocking on your door soon to try their newer technologies. I'll be watching and if they don't, that will tell me which direction to go. Thanks for the level of detail you provided as some of the things mentioned had not occurred to me.
I really enjoyed the initial review you did of the 415x. I was considering getting one next year. And its nice to hear you make a follow up 3 year review, which now makes me reconsider it (Living in Montreal, winters will surely ruin perimeter wire). Apparently the Eufy mower doesn't require boundary, or RTK. I was also looking into the Segway Navi mow. What worries me about these other brands, where would I get parts & service? The Husqvarna has a dealer network which is a plus. In the end, I'm still undecided.
Great videos sounds like a great mower a few years ago but like you said newer mowers are more advanced these days thanks for the review have a blessed day. 🙏
ecovacs rocks. I have several of their tools.
Thanks for sharing Erin.
Bluetooth is a red flag.
