Robot Mowers will take over. But they are NOT the end of professional lawn care, instead, they are the next evolution of a segment (lawn care) that is ripe for disruption. Those on the forefront will benefit most.

  1. I completely agree with what you're saying around robotic mowers from a DIYer perspective. There is also a big portion of the market available if you were to target home automation enthusiasts. I've researched a few time times in the past, and there are no solid robotic mowers that have a open or documented API for controlling the mower by automation. I would love to deploy one of these in my yard, but I don't want yet another proprietary app to setup and control.

  2. The talk around battery powered equipment, and robot mowers is the same kind of bs you heard when EVs were coming out. Useful for a specific person, but impractical for most, and guaranteed to have all kinds of problems along the way, just as EVs still do.

  3. We have been a full line Husqvarna Dealer for 20 years. This guy is just fool of it. Please don’t listen to him.First of all he can not set up a Husqvarna SUB Dealer. You are either a dealer or not. You do not need a license. There is just to much here. Apparently no fact checking has been done when they booked this guy. I hope he was not paid. Automowers from Husqvarna have been available since we have been a dealer. We have been installing them long before 2018, as Matt says “They came here”. He was set up as a dealer in 2018. He has bought maybe 15 units from Husqvarna this year, he does not have pre-negotiated warranty prices. There are at least 2 of us actual “Expert Dealer/Installers” that have been doing this way longer that him that he reached out to from 2018 up to 2021 for help with units technically and installation help, and we helped him, now he is an expert? This guy is a SALESMAN through and through and can probably sell ice to an Eskimo – But when it comes to Husqvarna Auto Mowers, or Robotic Mowers in general, you are really shopping at the Dollar Store with this guy. He won’t say what companies he is set up with because he isn’t. Yes Husqvarna, but as far as the videos he puts out on social media leading you to believe that he is a dealer for them, Echo Turf, Kress, Ambrogio for example, I know for sure he is not. Those are not his units, not his installs, not his 3000 ft. Of wire. He is all smoke and mirrors and just down right lying. This is just concerning to us REAL Dealers and Installers because you will see us all as these smoke and mirrors salesmen, and I assure you we are not. We are Passionate about Robotic Mowers. We spend our own money to further our knowledge on these units. There is so much that can be proved wrong or a lie here and no fact checking. I just want the public to beware and research your dealer/installer when you call them. If you are looking to become a dealer/installer, call the Manufacture direct. I mean really, how is this guy even going to get you units? He has NO inventory, NONE, FACT. The REAL Dealers/Installers put pictures of their installs and videos and try to help customers, you don’t see us on every social media platform, BECAUSE we are busy, installing, repair etc. AND DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEE OR HEAR ONLINE, because I assure you, no one fact checked this guy.

  4. I bought and still have have one of the original Robomow units in spring 2002. It's still in working shape, but in mothballs at the moment. We loved and used it regularly for a number of years. The drawbacks was the lead acid batteries and charging time, but it was very affordable compared to today's units. I paid something like $500.00 for it and cut my yard work time by at least 80%.
Back then…that was a big deal to me, as I didn't have much time off.

  5. Awesome discussion guys. Been eagerly waiting for more details on the unit with no wires Toro is supposed to release this spring. But after listening to this, might just get a Husqvarna with wires now if wireless units not quite ready yet for residential for a couple years.

  6. People are completely blind to what is quickly approaching. And I'm talking before the end of THIS decade.

Tesla is getting close to nailing self driving, once they do 5 million truck drivers, taxi drivers, gig workers will all lose their jobs within a few years (5 at the most).

Robotics are being developed at a mind blowing rate and everything will be impacted from lawn care to factory assembly work.

Buckle up and start making a gamelan because there are still idiots out there who think coal jobs and factory jobs are coming back!
