In this video we discuss Honda’s recent stop sale notice for certain HRN216 and HRX217K walk behind lawn mowers. What is going on with Honda?

  1. HRR216 VYA Honda mower I have had in the shop now for over 6 weeks needing a drive belt, cannot find one anywhere, I really like Honda mowers, but I will never buy another one, seems like it is impossible to find replacement parts.

  2. I have a three year old HRN216 and when I heard they were dropping mower production, I quickly purchased a new HRX217 for a back up just in case. I'm good for life! I've had nothing but Honda for over thirty years…

  3. Thank you for being so honest and helpful, that just made me change my mind about it, so I was thinking about acquiring one for my own use.
    Forget about it ! 🙏🏻

  4. I have had my Honda mower since 1994. Still starts on the first pull. More than I could ever say about any of the Briggs engines I have owned. Honda had always stood behind their products. I’m certain this will be addressed soon.

  5. Im looking at toro/honda combo mower recycler 22 push mower on marketplace.
I cant find any info on it at all. Im a Grandma buyong for my 14 yr old grandson to walk atound neighborhood to do lawns so he has his own. Any help anyone vould provide is so appreciated!🙂
    Thank You

  6. Had an HRX217 with one of those plastic (Xenoy) decks. The deck cracked after about 10 years of residential use. Honda denied the lifetime warranty for the deck because i made a simple modification elsewhere on the lawn mower which they said "voided the warranty". The modification I made had no impact on the deck. This mower was the most expensive and shortest lived mower i've ever owned. I will never ever purchase another Honda lawn mower.

  7. It’s beyond ridiculous that even decent manufacturers are putting out this plastic junk. I saw that John Deere is selling lawn tractors and zero turns with plastic transmission housings??? It shouldn’t cost $2K for a good lawnmower.

  8. Most lawn mowers don't have decompression at all. Sounds fishy, Honda never really made much lawn equipment anyway. Japan is not really know for having large lawns. It doesn't surprise they might bow out of the lawn equipment game. I don't think the Chinese are really into lawn care either. When it comes to making lawn care equipment for Americans they do a piss poor job, they don't care. The best lawn care products are American made cause we are the country with big manicured lawns. It's an American institution, So Buy American made.

  9. Bought my Honda mower in 2000. It's still going strong but back then they made all the parts and it and it's an OHC. Not sure where it was made. Start's like a dream. In fact it the harder you pull on it the less likely it is to start. The store brand mower I had before the Honda is still going too. It's 30 YO and has a B&S motor but it's always been a finicky thing to start. Why have they lasted so long? Change the oil and clean the air filter every year and use a quality oil. Simple as that.

  10. I bought one of these Honda lawnmowers at the end of last year. Used it maybe five times. Did everything that you’re supposed to do and at the end of the season, I dumped out the gas and did all that wonderful stuff. This year I take it out and I can’t even crank it. Finally managed to get it to run for 30 minutes and I shut it off and went inside to get me a sip of water and use the restroom, went back out to finish up my yard and I could not crank it back up. I have not been able to crank it back up and that’s been several weeks now. I do have the electric start one which would not start using this way and pulling the cord well I almost tore off my arm with it so that’s out of the question. So now I’m going to have to load it in my car and take it to a Honda lawnmower repair place. This is ridiculous. I paid a lot of money for this lawnmower thinking that it was going to last me a long time just like my Honda car. But I am really disappointed in this purchase. Honda needs to just give all our money back and let us go and purchase something else.

  11. My Troy Bilt riding mower has a Briggs and Stratton Intek engine. Many of them have a problem with the decompression cam breaking. Locally that's an $800 repair, although the kit is only about $100

  12. My 3 year old Toro mower with Honda engine works great. But I live in California, and the governor signed a bill that bans the sale of gas engine lawn mowers starting after 2024. So before the year is over I plan on buying one or two more lawn mowers, just to have for the future.

  13. I had a very old hr216 which worked great. I bought a new one in 2017 thinking it would be the same. TWIN BLADES, started great but left a strip of grass uncut about 3" inside right wheels. Honda resharpenened blades but was no better. Bottom line is I sold it 2 years later and bought a mower with honda motor was less than half price of honda and it works great. Just not self propelled.

  14. I though they stopped making all gas powered mowers altogether now, we can't find any commercial ones and the dealers are running out of stock. Honda told them they ended production for the US and the factory is now making ATVs. I guess it's because those sell for $20k-30k and it's not worth making $600-1000 mowers anymore.

  15. I had mine replaced and I think the repair is so invasive that now I have other issues with the mower. It smokes a little bit. The cut is uneven. it’s at the dealer as we speak.

  16. Honda touts there lawn mowers as being superior but they're far from that. They are made from cheap plastic that breaks and junk quality material pot metal

  17. Once you first said plastic I already knew that i didn’t need to go any further 😂. I really wish i could keep plastic away from all motors lawnmower cars or whatever smh always end up being the weak point especially with age

  18. I've used all kinds of commercial mowers and one time tried to use a Honda for hard to get area, but I bought 3 and took 3 back in the same day. It's obvious they got a bad shipment that week, but never tried another one.

  19. ive seen this mower back on the shelf at home depot recently , they definitely do not have very many gas push mowers. I do not want an electric one, neighbor has a ryobi rider that needs new batteries and they cost as much as a used gas mower

  20. brother you can't believe everything the news tells you. I have had this mower for years and made my friends get the same. NO Problems . HONDA Tech is TOP TOP. they make cars and robots. That tech is in their mowers & everything else they make. you maybe confused the news with the battery powered lawnmowers, because those are very bad, full of issues. Only thing that works about the battery operated is the idea. These people selling ideas
    lmaooo

  21. I have a Honda hr215 masters series , pretty sure it’s from 99 or 2000, but with normal oil changes and running often to not get old and crusty, it still runs great, turned it on in two pulls today after not running for over a month.
