It is still pretty impressive that you can visibly tell that it is actually mowing almost like a real mower. I have a $1k mower and it probably only shaves off 1/16" per pass which is invisible. So when you say "mowers of this class" that probably means $$$$.
That's not a high grass
For $3,000 before tax, ask yourself if this will do a good job for 3 years AND still work after 3 years. For $3k, you can pay someone to mow professionally AND do the edge trimming. Until a device can do both, its liike paying for a haircut without doing the sides.
Some of the area I have grass is a young orchard and only some part is where the kids might play. Cutting the grass regularly you can get a nice looking lawn. However I prefer to not cut the grass / weeds in the orchard ground with taller grass retains a more moisture than low grass. There are industrial mowers which can mulch really tall grass inculding sapplings but they are not priced for home owners. The grass on this video is definitely taller than what you normally see as lown but still smaller I regularly have at the back yard in the orchard area. Your video definitely helped for me. It could be great for lawns but not so great for tall grass. Thanks!
I'm really glad you DID make this video!
First, lemme say, great video, attention to the right things, and…
Best music ever! 🤪
Ok, so I've been thinking i wanted to buy a used robot mower, and build my own control electronics. But, i wanted to know which cutting method was the best, since our yard, while small, does have lots of shade trees.
Of course they drop lots of leaves, pine straw snd twigs, especially in the autumn and during/after a storm.
I do wish you'd talked about that more.
But i like the wheel design.
And THIS is the kind of test i really wanted to see.
I keep running across robot mowers where you have to start with a "freshly mowed" lawn! WTF???! 😮
I was VERY impressed by how it handled the tall, thick grass: the way it backed up & ran into it head-on!
Very impressive!
Was that all automatic, or were you driving it remotely?
I'd also like to know a few other things.
I have 'scribed, but this was the first video of yours I've seen, so i don't know if you talked about that in other videos.
What's the brand, and cost? Does it have a dedicated "installed" battery? GPS/GNSS?
Does it need a perimeter wire?
So many questions! I sure hope you can answer some of them, st least!
Again, great video, and great test!
Just what i needed to see!
'scribed! 👍👍👍. 🤪
Another great vid!
a) Do you think setting 9 to 11 inches of overlap on the cutting width would improve the quality of the first run? It almost looks like the tires and finger guards under the deck are causing those uncut layovers to take place.
b) If you rotate the stripe angle by 30 or 40 degrees on the second pass, would that have an effect? Is that a feature we should look for?

That mower can't be found in Amazon. I have tried 4 times. Was checking for the price.
The biggest problem with these mowers, not that they are bad concepts or even bad executions. They have their use case, that being already well groomed, maintained, seeded yards. i.e. your nice fescue, bermuda, zoysia, etc that has already been well maintained, has low amount of weeds and isnt grown out of control. Main reason for this is the blade design not being like a conventional mower that creates tons of lift to pull the grass, weeds etc into the blades.
Alternate title: "what it would be like for a robot to have to mow my lawn if even waiting 3 or 4 days between mows"
I love watching this guy’s video
Good to see another video
