Simple Trick to Bury Robot Mower Boundary Wire – No Special Tools

In this video, I show a simple way to bury boundary wire for my Lyfco 1750 robot mower using just a knife sheath. I needed to reroute the wire to protect my daffodils, and this low-tech method actually worked surprisingly well. If you’re setting up or adjusting your boundary wire and don’t want to rent or buy special tools, this might give you an idea. A no-fuss DIY method using what you have at hand.

  1. battery angle grinder, drill 2 holes into cutting plate (1 top, one bottom) and insert 2 small short screws with nut into each hole,
This way ditch for wire will be created in no time.

  2. Even easier is to use an angle grinder with a stone cutting disc, then feed the wire through an easy to bend tube, I used a 3mm brass tube, bent to go parallell with the ground.
30min for 180m cable (if a friend goes in front of you with the angle grinder).

  3. What is the name and manufacturer of the hand tool you used to place the wire into the ground at a specific depth level? Is this commercially available? If so, can you recommend a source where I may purchase one?

  4. What sort of voltage/ resistance is needed for these cables? I have an area I’d like to use a robot mower that has no access to power. I’m wondering if it’s possible to run it off some kind of battery?
