  1. Straight and neat lawn stripes? WTF? No, you want randomness, so you get an even cut with no stripes what so ever.

While it's more work, a signal cable navigation system is, if done right, the by far best system. Especially if you have risky areas, drops, etc.

  2. “Ruined my neighbors’ yard” what grass do you see there? These robots are ruining dirt, dying grass, leaves. So much effort in the video yet no proper yard got mowed.

  3. As a lawn dad, I can’t watch this anymore, those poor lawns. These robots are designed for mowing actual grass, not barren wastelands. 😜

In all seriousness, I came here for the review and to check out what’s new on the market and "The Hook Up" does great review videos. I’ve got a Luba 2 5000 (RTK) and it’s been pretty solid for the last 15 months. I’m on the subtropical east coast of Australia with a long growing season and a 1-acre property, so I need something up to the task.

It has broken down a couple of times and can be annoying when it bugs out, but overall it performs well. We have a lot of canopy from big eucalyptus trees and, from what I recall, signal has never really been an issue.

Based on my experience across two properties, I’d say the performance testing in this video isn’t a great indicator of real-world results. All of these bots would behave quite differently on a healthy, grass-covered lawn.

My best advice: don’t rush out and buy any mower based on one video or even a handful. Watch as many reviews as you can, read the forums, and make sure you understand the features and whether they suit your property. Something that looks great in ten videos might still be useless on your block depending on your conditions.

They’re great tools, and I have a true love-hate relationship with mine. I still think the Luba is a good bit of kit and I’m interested to find out more about the LiDAR systems.

  4. When you measure cutting blade to edge you might want to extend the blade to it's cutting length first instead of measuring to the base circle that holds them since it's not what does the cutting. That might change the measurements a good bit, no?

  5. My Luba 1 AWD is one of the best purchases I've ever made for my 1/3 acre lawn. However, I do wish there was an edge trimming feature and it does create ruts sometimes because the rain sensor doesn't always work as it should.

  6. Eufy have resolved all of the issues brought up here re the app
I agree that the battery needs work, but my lawn isn’t that big where I would care about that.
I have not seen any lawn damage from the wheels and that’s good since it rains here 80% of the year!
Once I sorted the edges and bare spots which (now) takes less than a minute, I’ve never seen it get stuck.
I do think that a vision, lidar, dual disk, large wheel / track mower would be perfect, let’s hope someone makes it, but the cost might drive closer to commercial farm equipment which already does all this stuff.
You’re always going to need to go over your lawn once a month or so, but I do this anyway with a verticutter and debris pickup with a normal mower. What the robot does is keep my lawn pristine in the meantime and therefore saves me hours which is better spent drinking coffee and relaxing!
