Hi, it's me again. I overseed with Rhizomatous Tall Fescue (RTF) in the fall here in California. RTF can slowly repair itself like Kentucky Bluegrass (KBG), just not as fast as KBG. You use tall fescue, which is Turf Type Tall Fescue (TTTF).
In the summer, you should really cut TTTF around 4 to 4.5 inches. During the fall and spring you can do a height of cut around 3-3.5 inches.
You really need a robotic mower that can cut a mowing height up to 4 inches for TTTF. The longer the grass, the more water it can store during the summer. Your TTTF will stay greener longer and may or may not be able to fight off summer dormancy by being mowed at a longer height of cut.
Thank you for your service. I did 22 years in the Air Force until retiring in 2022.
Hi, I live in California. I think I saw another video where you were talking about this exact same mower after the snow had melted.
As a retiree who has gotten into lawn care as a hobby. If you're trying to prevent lawn ruts, you need your robotic mower to alternate the mowing pattern. For example one day mow east to west ↔️ . Then 2-3 days later mow north to south ↕️. You should ALWAYS wait to mow your lawn with a mower or robotic mower when the ground is DRY.
I recommend looking at your sprinkler or watering schedule. Then set your mower to always mow 24-48 hours AFTER watering!
I do have a gardener who mows and picks up leaves. I do all the fertilizer, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides myself because none of them know what they're doing. Anyway, I text him weekly so he knows which way to mow. I just send him a direction arrow. He holds his phone up to the lawn and follows the arrow direction. ↔️↕️
I was excited about it too, got one and within 24 hours of using it I was hit with The app telling me "Slow down I am making too many request to their services" all I was doing was telling it to go cut! This is unacceptable, I called 800# and they said its a known issue, we're sorry there is nothing they can do about it, just try again in a few hours. I paid $2500 /w tax for a mower that I cant use anytime I want?????? No sir! unfortunately It had to be returned, That's not cool!
I have it and I love it. I have two separate lawns, both flat — but with some tree roots my former robot struggled with. The interconnecting route from a lawn to the other is paved and steep, the 4WD follows it precisely and effortlessly. Before this, I had to manually place my robot mower on a lawn one day and on the other one the next day.
