How To Adjust Husqvarna Automower “Find Charging Station” Settings On The Mower & On The App

A Husqvarna Automower’s methods for making it’s way back to the charging station is a big part in not only the performance of the mower itself, but these methods can also affect the looks of your lawn as well. If an Automower takes the same exact path back to the charging station every time it will start to wear a path into your lawn. If it takes too long to make its way back to the charger it could run out of battery power and shut down. So this is where you need to know how to take advantage of all of the methods that your Automower has to find it’s way home. The way that the process starts is when an Automower’s battery level gets down around 20% it will know it’s time to start heading home. It will first wander around a bit in hopes of picking up the signal from the charging station. After a certain amount of time the mower will then search for a guide wire to help it back to the charging station. This “certain amount of time” is where the DELAY times come into play. Using the app or the menu on your Automower you can select the amount of time that passes before the Automower starts to search for a guide wire to follow. For example, if you set the delay time for your guide wire to 7 minutes, your Automower will drive around hoping to find the charging station by the signal from the station itself but after 7 minutes if it has not found it then it will search for a guide wire. You can set the delay time for each guide wire. Meaning you could set the delay for guide 1 to 5 minutes, delay for guide 2 to 7 minutes and guide 3 to 1 minute or whatever times work for your mower based on your lawn’s complexity. Once the mower finds a guide wire to follow it will follow it until it gets close enough to the charging station to pick up the signal from the charging station. You can also set the amount of time that the mower waits until it searches for the boundary wire to follow back to the charger. This is the same procedure as with setting the delay for the guide wire. Once the Automower starts following the boundary wire back to the charging station it will follow it until it picks up the signal from the charging station, OR until it senses the signal from a guide wire. If the mower senses the signal from a guide wire it will then follow the guide wire because it knows that the guide wire is a direct shot back to the charger. Once the mower is near the charging station the it will first pick up the stations “Far” signal and be drawn in closer to the station. After the far signal gets it to the station the stations near signal lines up the mower and guides it into the station to charge. Sounds easy enough, right? Well, there is also an adjustment for the strength of the signal that the charging station is putting out. Most Automowers will work fine and benefit from the charging station signal strength being set to MAX. But as we show you in this video there are times where the signal strength will need to be lowered to keep from confusing the mower and running the risk of it damaging the lawn.

  1. I am going to my perimeter wire and have a sidewalk around the house I want to follow. However off the back deck I have a small area fenced for my dog to roam around on. The auto mower won’t be able to get into the area however to save boundary wire I’d like to just go under the fence and follow the side walk and come out the other side of the fence continuing along the side walk. Will that work or confuse the mower due to it not being able to follow the boundary wire all the way around? Thank you

  2. Mine can go to the area from guide wire but not from the guide wire back to the charging station. It drive over the guide wire too and ignored it 🤔

  3. Another Great Informative Video
I have a Garage/doghouse built for my mower and find the mower sometimes has problems when it gets on the side of the Garage.
even if I lower the setings I am thinking it would not help due to the boundary wires entering the back side of garage. ( thoughts ? )
